Our Plato's Closet Conference in Vegas

Well, I can't get over the fact that we waited so long for it, it happened (in May) and that we have already been home for 2 months. It was my 1st time in Vegas, and although is was beyond fabulous to eat so wonderfully and just have a fun, quiet (none of our children arguing and talking non stop, etc) time with Justin, it was not my ideal place for a vacation. We saw alot of cool things and we saw alot of NOT so cool things!!! We felt like we were surrounded by the "great and spacious build/s". Our conference was good and we learned alot. The best part was seeing the other owners that we were in training with, who opened their stores around the same time as us, and talking about the similars and differences between them. We have a competition going between us and 4 other stores. The store that sells the most for the year of 2008 has to buy all the other stores a big, fancy dinner next May at our conference, which is going to be in Orlando Florida. We hope to take 2nd. That means we get out of buying a very expensive dinner but that our store still did really well.

In front of Ceasars Palace

Both us us having fun in a kid store.

The view from our very high hotel room. It was beautiful at night to see the srtip all lit up.

The last night at our conference, while most others were drunk, we drank our delicious virgin pina claudias (no clue how to spell it), but they were good!!!! (I'd have to say that both our faces look so much fatter in this picture than normal :)

This is us at 3:00 AM wating for the shuttle to take us to the airport. I'd say we look pretty good for getting 3 hrs. of sleep.

I totally agree that Vegas has A LOT of fun, cool things, and a lot of NOT so fun, cool things. One of my most vivid memories is of the nasty, dumpy, porn-pimps on the corner flicking their horrible cards advertising the exploited, misguided women they pimpe out at all the passersby... it was EXTREMELY disturbing to me to realize how degraded society is in some places.

On the other hand, I really love all the fun things in Vegas; Jon and I went to the Shark's Reef aquarium at Mandalay Bay and LOVED it, we went to the Secret Garden and thought it was the greatest thing ever, and all the FOOD there... YUM! We loved the Tournament of Kings at Excalibur & even though I LOVE to play 21, Jon wouldn't let me, so I didn't even have to feel guilty about anything on the way home!

Plus, Vegas was our last "alone" vacation before Olivia was born, and it was great to be ALL ALONE in our fatty hotel room!

In spite of all its evils, I do love Vegas! If you can block out the disgusting/degrading stuff, it's a fun place to go...

How fun to go to Vegas. I totally agree that it is fun but not the ideal vacation spot. There are a lot of not so nice things that you see. Justin and you look really good and really happy. We are glad that things are going so well for you. Love the kids with the cute chics too.

I know what you mean about Vegas being fun and seeing good stuff and not so good stuff. We went several years back (2001) for my sister's boyfriend at the time's 30's birthday surprise. It was way to HOT for me, and the smoking and gambling was not fun. But it was nice to be with family and surprise my soon to be brother in law for his birthday.

You guys look great!! Anyway, I totally am with you about Vegas- Jon and I went there before we ever had kids when we were living in Utah (actually I was pregnant with my first pregnancy- the one I miscarried). It really does feel all wrong - glitz covering slime. I remember walking by an old woman at a slot machine who looked like a zombie, just chugging in quarters. 3 or 4 hours or so later we walked by the same spot and she was still there, still like a zombie. The other thing I didn't like was all the people smoking. Maybe because I was pregnant it bothered me so much, but there was NOWHERE to go to get away from it! I do agree there were some fun things to see- but truly, that was a one time vacation. We were on the strip on a Friday evening- then Saturday we drove to the temple grounds and it was like coming home. The contrast was so absolute- it was an amazing experience. Anyway- glad you were able to get away without the kids! That is always fun!
